Online Short Stories

Most of my fiction is either out of print, being worked on, or available in print (for example, Train of Thought in the 2008 Demon Minds anthology, which sometimes shows up on Amazon still).

Some of it is available online however, so a rough idea of my short fiction can be gathered from this motley crew from over the years.

The Unwilling Ghost - a ghost meets a priest in the hope it can be exorcised...

A Chance Meeting - the story of my great-grandfather in WW1, told within this article about a lost relative (of many) in that particular carnage.

A Pile of Socks - A family seek refuge from a scandal in a small Highlands village. Now why is there a pile of immaculately placed socks in the village graveyard?

At An Angle of 45 Degrees - Mum didn't seem to mind that her child was out of sight, as long as she could hear the girl play...

Character in Search of an Author - Famed writer found murdered, seems an open and shut case, until DCI Sembilan arrives.

Hero of the Day - One mans fairy tale is another's...well, that would be revealing ahead of ourselves...

One Small Puddle - funny how few people pay attentions to signs.

The Fox Squirrel - The first ever story I wrote aiming to be a professional writer. A man thinks he finds a new species at the back of his garden, and throws caution to the wind to catalogue it...

The Frozen Smile - Christmas 2012 special ghost story. How a man met his wife, on a dark Christmas evening, and how he had to act as the go between for a finale reckoning...

The Old Man and a Pig - A short tale of animal love, reincarnation, and revenge.

The Stranger - Not based on a true story, though I wish it was.

The Underground - Based on a true story, until it isn't. A tale of claustrophobia on the public transport...

To the Vote - the Internet forum of the future...

What Happens in the Vacuum - A game show gone horribly wrong.

Walking with Cewsh - Dedicated to Cewsh of Cewsh Reviews fame. An old man takes his final walk through memories.

Practice Makes Perfect - the dangers of method acting.
